Types of Diseases

  • Communicable Disease: Transmittable from person to person.
  • Non-communicable Disease: Not transmittable from person to person.
  • Endemic Disease: Constantly present in a specific population/area.
  • Epidemic Disease: Widespread occurrence in a community at a particular time.
  • Pandemic Disease: Epidemic spread across a large region (multiple continents/worldwide).
  • Sporadic Disease: Occurs infrequently and irregularly.

Modes of Transmission

  • Airborne: Transmitted through the air.
  • Waterborne: Transmitted through contaminated water.
  • Vectors: Transmitted by animals.
    • Housefly: Cholera, typhoid fever.
    • Mosquito: Malaria, dengue fever.
    • Cockroach: Salmonellosis, gastroenteritis.
